Hats off to Hednesford (8) for winning their replay at Gateshead (5) last night. The club has had its troubles recently. Relegated from the SL Premier in 2023, they nearly fell back into feeder league football last season, 40 years after having left it, but the springtime round of reprieves saved them. The club was taken over in the second half of the season after a fraught period (think of Banbury 2012-15). An honourable mention also for Gainsborough (7), who won their replay at Boston (5) 4-0.

Bogsiders comfortably won their home replay against Hartlepool. The highlights of the first match were not inspiring...

Hats off to Kettering for that win! I didn't give them a chance, especially at half-time.

£61K prize money in the bank, £20K guaranteed simply for turning up in the 2nd round, £67K for winning. With a television fee, sponsorships and gate money, they're looking at a windfall of at least £150K whatever the result in the next round.
