On paper a good draw given who we could have got but as always nothing taken for granted.

Believe the club should run a coach for supporters. Bit of a test for the new board.

For the record – Banbury in the Second Qualifying Round.
This will be the club's 41st appearance. Prior record: W18 L22. It's the only round of the six in the qualifying competition in which Banbury have lost more ties than they've won.
Best wins: 6-1 – Cirencester Town A, 2016 4-0 – Maidenhead Utd H, 1947 5-2 – Brackley Town H (replay), 2005
Worst defeats: 1-5 – Slough Town A (replay), 1950; Oxford City A, 1959; Hemel Hempstead A, 1965 0-4 – Aylesbury Utd H, 1951 3-6 – Hemel Hempstead A, 1966 2-5 – Slough Utd A, 1945
One win against a higher-ranked club: Leamington A 1-0, 2020 (Nat North) Defeats by lower-ranked clubs: Willenhall Town A 0-2, 1978; Malvern Town H 1-2, 1986 (both WML)
I don't suppose the club sent anyone to watch Melksham. They'd have had to drive to Helston to do that...

FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay
Banbury United 1-2 Tonbridge Angels (att. 518)
Quite simply, Banbury threw this game away. Another terrible blunder by stand-in 'keeper Milan Barisic handed Tonbridge the opening goal after 13 minutes but he cannot be blamed for the defeat. Banbury missed more than a dozen gilt-edged chances in a game that they dominated for all but the first 15 minutes of the second half.
Barisic was recalled after Alan Judge was ruled out with an injured heel – his error was to drop a corner at the feet of Scott Kinch, who scored easily. Tonbridge 'keeper Aaron Kerr had already made an excellent save from an Andy Baird header and before the half was out made an equally good one from Jermaine McSporran; he later watched the same player twice miss near open goals.
In the second half, Kerr spilled a shot from John Gardner and Stuart Bridges drove the loose ball wide when it seemed easier to score. Bridges redeemed himself in the 77th minute with an excellent run and cross for Daniel Szczukiewicz to score the equaliser and Banbury looked liked going on to win but six minutes later Jon Main, always Tonbridge's danger man, raced through the middle to score what turned out to be the winner. Even then, Banbury had three more chances to at least take the game into extra-time, John Gardner, Wayne Blossom and Andy Baird all missing with space and time to spare. Gardner's was the worst, a horrible miscue with the 'keeper grounded and the goal gaping. Howard Forinton, ruled out with a thigh strain, must have watched the sometimes frantic action in complete disbelief – had he played, his calm manner would surely have seen Banbury through.
With a kind draw in the next round (Cheshunt away), this was Banbury's best opportunity for many a year to reach the fourth qualifying round, possibly the first round proper, and they blew it. Given the uncertainty over the club’s future with respect to the ground, the publicity of a run to the first round of the FA Cup would have been as valuable as any prize money or other income; given the way they dominated the game and carved out chance after chance, this was the most numbing and dispiriting exit from the competition since 1977, when a fourth qualifying round defeat in a similar manner at Bideford denied the club a first round trip to Portsmouth.
A great chance squandered.

Eighteen years on and still ground uncertainty only now the eviction is now as close as it’s ever been and not a sniff of a new home on the horizon.

At the start of last season, I mentioned the upcoming 40th anniversary of what turned out to be Banbury's worst season, 83-84, in terms of points per game and one which almost saw the club fold. The consequences of that period are still with us. Banbury were in debt to the tune of more than £200,000 at today's prices and in the summer of 1984 considered resigning from the SL and playing in the Hellenic. As it was they carried on, effectively as amateurs. That was when the ownership of the ground was lost.

Late in the draw again – and the only consolation is that it's not a Step 2 club.

A couple of notable victories in this round, both two levels apart: Bishop's Cleeve over Torquay on Saturday (nor was it close at 3-0) and Shifnal winning at Redditch in tonight's replay.
Banbury be warned!

Banbury be warned! Notable wins/upsets too for Chatham Town away at Welling United and Walton & Hersham beating Farnborough (oh dear, how sad !) The Torquay, Welling and Farnbourgh Manager interviews on You Tube were virtually identical "disgrace of a performance" "fuming" "no desire" "players too comfortable" "we warned them" "changes needed" "sorry to the fans" "unacceptable" etc., etc., etc. "The beauty of the FA Cup" - unless you're on the receiving end of course
