Let's be kind and say the presumption in this was unintended.

Given what I have just seen that isn’t even an option, I accept that we have injuries to key players but we hardly laid a glove on them tonight and they wanted it far more than we did. Hardly any movement from the bench to even try to change things, if there was a honeymoon period that is well and truly gone. We did have a nailed on penalty appeal to make it 2-2 but it was waived away. The players couldn’t seem to grasp that hoofing over the top into the area continually wouldn’t work as every time it was cleared.Time for excuses I would guess. I want to be positive and support but this was awful.

If he carries on picking his son then people are going to start to question wether the manager has a conflict of interests…
In 10 games we’ve barely managed a goal from open play, Midfield reinforcements desperately needed before the wheels start to fall off and the air of positivity that was being rebuilt is wiped out

I get the frustration with picking his boy, but we were really very poor tonight no plan B. If you take Yaw, Gift and Aj out we are a very average team and sadly 2 were missing tonight.
The lack of subs is a worry as clearly he doesn't think any can change a game, but I'd be more concerned at the lack of in game management, we didn't change a thing from first minute to last. It's all well and good keeping the ball but would be nice to do something with it, without AJ on the pitch we create nothing.
I rate Reiley but sometimes his balls in are questionable, and what is it with Tai and hopeless cross field balls, must of trued it 7/8 times tonight to no avail. Keep the ball then just seem to gift it away.

It's all well and good keeping the ball but would be nice to do something with it... The Melksham manager made this very observation: plenty of possession but little threat.

Have to admit I didn't attend last night. But by reports I have had all say we were pretty poor. This could easily become a very mediocre season, with us ending up around mid table with very little to play for, and sadly very little interest from the town.

For the record: Another defeat by a lower-ranked team, the 19th in 48 seasons. It's the third year in a row; that's happened once before – 2011-13 (Slough H, Hungerford H replay, Cirencester H).

Unfortunately we appear to be heading the sameway as last season. Very little creativity with weak midfield leading to few chances. The football in general, is undoubtedly better and the defence looks sound. Good and not so good. SH did say it is a long term project and several of the youngsters seem promising. Mid table or above would be a good result

SH was a bit unhappy with the refereeing. Banbury were denied not just a penalty but a goal. Watch the highlights just after 3 mins. Henry stands his ground in front of the 'keeper who tries to vault him. However, set against that is some really poor defending for the second and third goals.
No game on 3Q day, Sep 28th (unusually, none were scheduled). The club could bring forward the Bedford match from Tuesday 15th October, if only to ensure a better attendance. That's where it is now: looking for another 70-80 on the gate...

Bromsgrove lost at Chelmsford so October 12th won't be another blank Saturday for Banbury.
Three SLPC clubs through – Bishop's Stortford (beat Hereford), Harborough (beat Leamington) and Kettering. Three have replays – Lowestoft (H), Leiston and Royston Town (both A). Biggleswade's game was postponed.
No really big shocks: Gorleston (8) beat St. Albans (6) but Saints are bottom of Nat South; Radcliffe (6) lost to Bury (9) but given the postions of the clubs in their leagues, it's almost 7 v. 8 anyway.
Banbury should beware of Plymouth Parkway. Despite their league struggles, they managed to win 3-0 at Sittingbourne (8).

That's a tough draw for Carshalton but Banbury might have avoided it. It's likely they'd have been put into the central section in 3Q if they'd beaten Melksham without a replay or the northern section of this round if they had won at Carshalton.

Carshalton lost 0-4 at Barnet. Two SLPC clubs are through to the First Round. Harborough beat the revived Bury to reach the First Round for the first time in their short history (they'd not got past 2Q in 11 previous attempts). Kettering won 2-1 at Farsley. It will be their 40th appearance in the First Round since WW2 but the first since their near-terminal crisis of 2012. Other notable wins: Guiseley away to Kidderminster and Chesham at home to Yeovil. Bogsiders drew at Hartlepool.
