Bath's record in the FA Cup is one of the best amongst non-league clubs. They've been in the First Round 33 times (three exempted directly and 16 to 4Q) and from there 19 times to the Second and six to the Third. They have ten victories over Football League clubs. Their last appearance was in 2011-12, the last time they were exempt to 4Q as a Conference National club. Since then they've had five 4Q defeats in nine seasons as a Step 2 club, the longest run in their history without making it to the competition proper.
Their league form this season is as you would expect from a side in the middle of the table: victories against sides 14th, 17th and bottom, defeats by 1st, 2nd, 4th and 15th. In the FA Cup they have won 1-0 at Shaftesbury (Wessex League) and 5-0 at home to Frome (SL Div 1).

The methods are a long way from the past. I can remember players, during breaks in play, nipping over to the perimeter fence for a smoke with friends. And I'll quibble with the reporter's line about climbing out of Step 3 for the first time. Only in the post-2004 world – from 1966 to 1982, Banbury were just two levels below the Football League.

If we 'play' then I think we have a decent chance. Bath just favourites, but there are only 10ish league pyramid places between the teams. COME ON YOU REDS

Fanbl***ytastic,I’ll be honest I was expecting a much harder game but both sides struggled to create many chances. Bath City for their status were nowhere near a cohesive side, they looked like a team who’s confidence is shot. We plugged away and got our just reward a place in the 1st Round Proper Draw, 🤞🤞for a home tie and televised.
