I'd imagine most supporters would want to know why three of our best players from the last couple of seasons have gone. It's normally because of ; 1. the money on offer elsewhere 2. Travelling distance 3. Work commitments There's 'plenty more fish in the sea', panic ye not, there'll be more footballers than ever available on the non-league market this Summer as Football League clubs reduce their playing squad numbers (cue more hysterical spending by Brackley ?) There could of course be agreements in place, contracts could have been signed but are sat in the Safe at the San Spencer waiting to be submitted when it suits all concerned. Hope that helps ?

Time to be realistic, players are leaving for more money and to play higher up. We have lost our main sponsor, and knowing this town i would bet that the normal few people who do the majority will be finding it hard going. Unless a millionaire turns up, I'd imagine that our budget will be less than previous years and we will be picking up players no body wants. I hope that the reserves may have a few Banbury lads that don't want mega bucks but are happy to play for their home town and the team manages to avoid relegation.

Yes Didier..players have holidays and the savvy ones get fixed up before they go.3 of our better players have and our facebooking centre forward is following suit.
No one's doubting the work Pete Meadows and others are putting in,but we could do without being kept in the dark.
I can see the prices going up and the quality of the team going down, usual early cup defeat(memo, tell the FA it cannot be allowed to happen again),and gates of 200 to watch a non winning team.

It's worrying the quality of players we're losing but I have faith in Billy and his team to bring others in....I think Stoney is moving to Bristol so that's going to be why he's thinking of signing for Chipps or Ciren.

Billy is our greatest asset at the moment. He will be searching for new players, and I am confident he will bring in some new faces. He seems to have contacts all over the place. We know the management board are working hard behind the scenes, and with Billy doing his bit with the players we will be fine.

A depressingly familiar story for Banbury the last few years and its difficult to buck the trend.
Its catch 22 without the money to get better players the apathy locals show towards the team isn't going to change and we need those locals attend alot more regularly.
Was it really on 5 or 6 years ago there was over 1000 watching us play Brackley and stuffing them in a cup game. Where have the all gone ?

I agree with Yogi, it looks like the club are waiting to see how much revenue will be generated from the Puritan Patron Scheme before telling BJ how much money he has to play with. The problem is most players have been tapped up by spring, one manager I worked with gave out business cards to players he wanted to sign in the bar after the game. Until then I don't expect to see any players coming in because the manager wont know his budget and we will be left with the players no one else wants.

Seems to me alot of assumptions are being made without knowing the facts ! Possibly because no one is telling us any facts.

Bravo Mr Porter, I agree that I'am guilty of assumptions and therefore fall foul of a certain standard , these were made as you say "without knowing the facts" unfortunately facts can be misconstruded and misused so as to distort what the truth is.

A football club is much like any other bsuiness in that you have budgets and forecasts which are generally based on immediate past trading history (eg matchday revenue) and also certain assumptions (eg sponsorship deals which 'should' be renewed). A football manager does not therefore have to wait until say 30th June before he is allowed to enter the market for any players so your initial assumption is, I suggest, incorrect and you have no need to panic. Those players tapped up early are generaly one of two or three big targets for a club who have money. It is not a massive concern as not many clubs have money. Those agreeing deals very early for the following season do not consist of the only 'good' players out there, they are a very minimal percentage of the thousands of players who play the beautiful game - again, you have no need to panic. Do not panic people, the football club will no doubt be working as hard as ever, targets would have been identified, negotiations would have taken place, the managerial merry go round at season end's needs to settle down so loan contacts can be secured etc., etc., etc.

Possibly because no one is telling us any facts. What would you like to know ?? What have you got? Do we have any friendlies other than Cobblers 2nd XI? Have any of last seasons squad signed/commited for the 11/12 season? How do you feel about the F.A. Cup being sponsered by a shite American lager?........ Alright you don't have to answer that one.

It's a footballing fact of life that players come and go and on the face of it at the moment we seem to be behind but given BJ's contacts that we all know about I have no doubt that he is on the case looking for new players. As far as David Stone posting on Faceache about where he is going, good luck to him.My own opinion is that he was disinterested for the majority of last season and very rarely put in a whole shift. If he is honest he only came back to us because nobody else was interested and as I have said before, most players when it comes down to it are mercenaries who will go where the biggest payout is.Club loyalty is a rare comodity. Let us all calm down and see what developes before all becoming judgemental about what the club should or should not be doing.

Yes we have other pre season games, as there has been so many changes at the Stadium during the close season our first game on the 14th July is likely to be a open house FREE entry BBQ etc followed by us v Daventry Utd. No players from any team would have actually signed Southern League forms yet as the forms are only available at this weekends AGM. Billy is on holiday but he has asked David Staff to keep in touch with the players. We are still working hard to make the Puritan scheme work, encouraging results so far Don't forget the AGM on 13th July
