Bromsgrove Sporting was formed in 2009 before the demise of the ailing Rovers, effectively as an act of insurance. The initial intention was to buy Rovers out of administration; if that were not possible, then senior football could be continued in the town by starting out as a new club. As it turned out, in the summer of 2010 Rovers' lease on the council-owned Victoria Ground was terminated and they were evicted. With nowhere to play, the club was expelled from the Southern League (although not formally dissolved until a year later).
Sporting were awarded the tenancy and immediately entered a team in the Midland Combination Division 2. Five promotions in nine seasons brought them to the Southern League's Premier Division Central, a level at which Rovers had last played in 2008. Sporting were 4th in the table in March of the 2019-20 season and well placed for the play-offs when the country was closed down. Since the resumption of 2021-22, they have struggled to make an impression, finishing 18th twice and 17th. They're currently 18th – their three victories have been over the bottom three.

Banbury v. Rovers:
The clubs last met in the 07-08 season. The 78 league meetings to that point were the most Banbury had played against any opponents but that total has since been overtaken by Stourbridge (88) and Redditch (79). Banbury won 30 and Bromsgrove 34 with 14 draws (in the SL, 12 to Banbury, 10 to Bromsgrove and 8 draws).
