Meet the Manager event @ 8pm
Following the EGM, at 8pm, and at the same location, we welcome our new First Team Manager, Simon Hollyhead, for a "Meet the Manager" member event. Simon will have been in the role for four weeks by June 6th and can share an update of his progress regarding players and staff, as well as his philosophy for Banbury United.
Both events are for members only. We look forward to seeing you there.
* 'Dear member' would have been enough. There's a faint whiff of 'Dear Comrade of the heroic Russian motherland' in that greeting...

Management 'group' appear to be big fans of The Whately. Perhaps more central and easily accessible is thought behind the location.

Perhaps more central and easily accessible is thought behind the location. A very fair point - I wasn't being critical about it. But perhaps the income for clubhouse bar would have useful? Just a non-critical thought.

Reading the website article it states that the move to the Whately is due to the clubhouse undergoing refurbishment during June.

On the agenda...
Meet the Manager: with new First Team Manager, Simon Hollyhead, and Dave England of Puritans Radio, from 8pm in the same room after a short comfort break. In this session, Simon will explain the make-up of his new management team. He will also answer questions on his recruitment strategy and plan, as well as the current status and when we can expect to hear about signings.
Sometime last month would have been good. It's a long time without any news. Mark Jones was appointed 37 days after the end of the 22-23 season, Simon Hollyhead 29 days after last season (well, the announcements at least). Thursday's meeting will be another 18 days on.

I think the club are waiting for the expiration of 'target' player's contracts - some due 14 June, some at end of June. There appeared to be nothing to be concerned about. I certainly didn't get the same vibes as last season when the message felt like 'this is really difficult - we've got to assemble a brand new squad'. But maybe that was just my reading of the situation?

I've been told that a £70K debt was run up last season. A loss was expected but I'm surprised it's as much as that, even taking into account the weather.

If it was a £70k debt then it comes as no surprise when you think back to postponements and the subsequent lower attendances when the games were eventually played ..... but this is our club and we need to pull together !
