New Badge

I have just read the proposals to alter the club badge, for my part nothing inspires at all. Also having introduced a new kit this season would incur more expense going forward. Given our current position resources should be directed elsewhere.

Personally I'm not a fan of marketing peeps 'creating' ("creative direction") just for the hell of it ...

... and redesigning Club badges smacks of just that to me - I've seen it before and it's never impressed me.

Use a bit of imagination and the suggestion for the simplified Puritan's head looks rather like a helmet from a suit of armour (two slots for the eyes) or the tail fin of a bomb.

We have ‘been here before’ but this a decent effort for modernising the club in a new era not some dodgy Jed design he’s made on MS Paint

All options being proposed would be a good change for me

A design that was rightly derided at the time.

I don't think that painting the Puritan black is "simplifying, modernising & amplifying the club's history without stepping away from its values".

Something about the designs reminds me of Stowford Press cider branding! The Puritan head could certainly do with some facial features. This all does unfortunately bring back memories of the Jed pub sign!

It's time for a change but a proper one, not a naff reworking of the same. The Puritan appeared at the start of the 90-91 season so he's had a good run.

Could you imagine the up roar for a whole new badge. Maybe they thought updating the original would just "wobble" the apple cart.
A complete new one, I'm all up for that but I'm sure it would be met with barrage.

Personally thought the designs were quite poor and uninspiring. As a fan since the 90s I've always seen a puritan on the crest. Steve T can you delve into the history books and give us a run down?

The thread quoted above gives some examples. The town council arms and the cross have been used as emblems before, both on programmes and the latter as a shirt badge in the Spencer days.
