We are reviewing all aspects of the club and would like you're thoughts on the attached badge or any ideas on a new badge... Attachments:

Shocking - nothing wrong with the one that has served the club over the years. This badge is on about 50 kits at present also!

even more cartoony than the one we have now... it's actually on about 100 kits and 100 training kits across the club. Please don't change something that doesn't need changing.

personally i like the idea behind the badge and do think we need an update of our current one however the design looks very cheap and the font is extremely child like.
i have an idea though, we have a fairly decent art college in banbury which has a very good graphics and design department, would it not be good for publicity (and much cheaper) if we approached the college with a view to running some sort of competition?
just an idea

To the point guy's but taken .. Craig what would you're view be on the badge .. The current badge is something we are looking at as we would like to add the main points of the town ie: the cross, puritan and the banbury cake hence the shape of the badge.. So any positive feedback or ideas would be appreciated ..

I think the idea of having a competition perhaps amongst the local schools to design a badge would be great .

I personally have never been that keen on the present puritan shirt logo,to me it has always looked a bit sunday morning league?,i am not against the puritan logo but not as main shirt badge,i think we need something a bit more classy,i personally would like to have the Banbury coat of arms/shield as main shirt badge with the puritan logo on sleeve, failing that the old spencer badge of Banbury cross on a shield, whatever is decided for a new badge i think the puritan logo would be better suited to the sleeve?. Id do away with the puritans face (looks like punch and judy) and just have a puritans hat and Banbury cross. I also think the Banbury Utd logo needs to be something other than white.

If the full Banbury crest would be a bit costly to re produce, then here is the shield only version, obviously in colour, the blue and white sections reflect away kit colours as well. Attachments:

If the badge has to change, let the true/hardcore supporters bring their designs and ideas to the open meeting, they are the ones who should choose the design, not others who hardly or never go to a game

Darn it, Keith, you beat me to it! You are correct to say that something more formal, historical or traditional would be preferable to the current rather cartoonish logo which has been on the match day programme since 90-91 – the Banbury coat of arms survived in different forms until 95-96.
The sun-in-splendour is widely used around the world as a heraldic device but AFAIK Banbury is the only town in Britain to use it. The colours of the strip clearly derive from the red oxen (Oxford city and county council devices) and the yellow sun. Mind you, if the badge were to be historically accurate with regard to the Puritans then the castle should be depicted as a smoking ruin...
I have an enamelled lapel badge from the 70s* that you refer to white background, blue shield bordure (google it) with the silver Banbury cross and scrolls top and bottom 'Banbury', 'United F.C.'.
The suggested badge looks more like a real ale pump clip – and not a very good one at that. I thought for a moment that the legend across the bottom read 'BANBURY BITTER' as part of a new sponsorship deal with Hook Norton brewery.
*An adaptation of the badge Shadders has displayed below.

I agree that all aspects of the club need looking at for it to progress and how the club is marketed is a very important part of that progress.
In my opinion the current badge is poor and should be reviewed. I think it should contain elements that reflect the town - The Cross, The Puritians, Oxfordshire (OX) etc.
Getting local schools/college involved could be a good idea as a marketing event.
Sorry Jed, I agree the new proposal looks to cartoonee!!
