I'm one of the few that like the current badge, when it hasn't got the yellow circle around it at any rate. I'd have it a bit bigger though. Never been keen on the red kit either, probably because the club played in white shirts when I started going in the 80's.

Was it common to have badges on shirts in the early 70's?

So lets launch a design a badge competition ! it should create interest in the club with school kids. A prize of a season ticket if the design is chosen ? and a drink bought by Jed at the bar !!

After reading this thread, it seems that all involved are all across the board on an approach to a design for BUFC. The common comments are: 1) No one really likes the suggested design (for carious reasons). 2) The Cross, Puritans should be represented. 3) Why change it? Before you run to a local design school to get a "low cost" design, I might suggest that those three questions be answered. Develop a consensus on design aspects be discussed and brought down into 3-4 general ideas. Maybe study other football club designs and identify what you like and dislike about each. Once the desired "character" of the logo is agreed on, there is a much larger chance of success in agreeing on a finalized design. Another hint is to design in black and white (with color options always in mind) Reasoning, design that looks great in one color has a higher chance of looking even stronger once color is added. It is really interesting to see the directions taken as BUFC bounces back.

The guy who designed the current badge might be worth talking too?! He's one of our regulars....

...The Cross and the Puritans should be represented... The club's Spencer origins ought to be in there as well, although perhaps not in the form of representations of surgical corsets and trusses or of parachutes. The Spencer shirts were red and yellow quarters, well suited to a shield.

What ever is produced it needs to be suitable for reproduction in other formats - replica clothing, merchandise etc. Do not know if you will get this from a competition
