Once again, the OFA has decided that Banbury will not be exempted until the quarter-finals. This season, that's a privilege only for the Oxfords. Second round draw:
Ardley United v. Yarnton Banbury United v. Henley Town (next Tuesday, 12th Nov) Clanfield (85) v. Bicester Town Colts Kidlington v. Woodcote North Leigh v. Easington Sports Thame United v. Adderbury Park
Henley play in the Thames Valley Premier League (formerly the Reading Senior League), a feeder to the Hellenic.

Hopefully Common sense will prevail and we will use the game to give our development team a run out. The competition is of no interest to us.

A little surprised we have never played them in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup!
But we did meet them twice in season 1934/35, our first season as a senior club. Our only previous meetings.
Won 3-1 at Henley in the First Qualifying Round of the national FA Amateur Cup. Henley were then in the Spartan League. Future Arsenal player Ronnie Westcott got two of the Spencer goals.
Then we beat them that season in final of Oxfordshire Charity Cup 2-0, played at Oxford City's White House ground.

For the record...
When Banbury returned to the OSC in 78-79, they were not exempted to the QFs until 85-86. That lasted only until relegation to the Hellenic in 1990. On returning to the SL they were exempted every year until 17-18 (they beat Quarry Nomads 9-0 with Leam Howards scoring six), then again in 19-20 and 21-22 (the Bicester Hallions affair).

Let us move on from previous history with this cup. I would hope we give Henley the respect we would want from others and play the senior squad, not our academy. On any given day the prospect of further advancement in any competition would be welcome. I am quite sure if Henley won they would love to play Oxford City or Oxford United youngsters and to be honest so should Banbury. I guess the crowd will be under 200, but if we put out our senior squad then footy for a five must be a bargain, especially if it means a pint with your mates.

Premiership teams play their B teams or u/21's in the Football League Cup (whatever it's called these days !) and they do that for a reason - too many games being played, risk of injuries or suspensions to 1st team squad and to give the youngsters proper competitive matchday experience etc. Personally, I'd put the youngsters out for every Cup competition apart from the FA Cup !

With no more midweek matches scheduled, the club out of the Trophy and no Saturday games at risk because of others still in the competition, it's not as though great demands will be put upon the squad in the next few weeks because of pressure of fixtures. There won't be a pile-up unless the weather bites.
Judging by much of the reporting, the players should use tonight's match to practise corners, free-kicks and long-distance shooting...

Appreciate the OSC is not the stature it once was - (I remember big crowds back in 1990s, plus when we took 300-400 fans to the various finals at the Kassam back in the 2000s/early-mid 2010s) - but we have to play in it, so why not do our best to try and win it! #prideofOxfordshire. Only cup competition we have a chance of winning this season!

What's with 'Triallist' on the Twitter feed? His name is Twariq Yusuf and he appears on the club's player list on the SL website.
Attendance was 169, some way from the worst in the competition.
Elsewhere: North Leigh 2-1 Easington Sports Thame United 9-1 Adderbury Park Kidlington v. Woodcote [14.11] Clanfield 85 v. Bicester Town Colts [19.11] Ardley United v. Yarnton [26.11]
