The only way forward now is to start from the top down, we already know a new chairperson is required and probably additions or replacements on the board. It is also very apparent to us all that the KW experiment has been a catastrophic failure so applications for a new manager should be actioned sooner rather than later. I would hope that aspirations within the club to attain a higher level still exist rather than accept we are just another Southern League club and can’t afford a higher level, if the thinking like that remains we might as well pack up altogether. The whole ground issue is a hindrance rather than a cause to our present position and obviously is dragging on and on and if I’m honest I don’t think I will ever see a new home anytime soon. The council seem to be unwilling to help push things along but as we get very little information as to what is actually going on who knows. Perversely the flooding issue may be beneficial to us to stay where we are but the developer's will still push to get us out as money always talks in the end.All we can do at this moment in time is hope that a lot of work is done behind the scenes during the close season so that we can hit the ground running next season.

Last night on the Spennymoor thread I wrote this in response to the club statement:
It's not going to encourage applications for the manager's post (I am, of course, assuming a new manager will be required). It could be read as saying "We won't try for promotion next season."
If Banbury aren't at least challenging for the play-offs next season, attendances won't average 450.
I don't know whether I'm reading too much or not enough into the statement. The first season up clearly caught some of the board unawares (especially crowd control) but this season should never have turned out like it did. Supporters might have accepted a budget cut and a bottom-half struggle but not like that. That was simple mismanagement.
A video has since been posted on Twitter saying "We'll be back". My response to that was "Not without a ground to play on" but then I thought of Gloucester, whose 15 seasons at Step 2 have come to an end. They spent 11 of those playing on other clubs' grounds before returning to their own place. They had very good attendances at first but once their owners/benefactors sold up, they struggled.
In the end, it's all about the stadium, isn't it?

"Please send applications ... by Wednesday May 8th 2024. Interviews will start immediately, not after the closing date."
Interesting. The Step 2 season ends on the 20th, Steps 3 and 4 a week later with play-off finals over the following weekend (Monday 6th May is the bank holiday).
Early bird and all that with applications from candidates not involved in play-offs...

Personally I would've set the deadline at 24th April to avoid ending up as we did last Summer eg majority of players already signed up elsewhere when Mark Jones was appointed A Play-Off Manager will still be able to apply as all applications and interviews will be handled with the strictest confidence The positive is that 'interviews will start immediately' - hopefully the right person applies and hits every button so we can look forward with real positivity

The positive is that 'interviews will start immediately' is it really though? the same people who have made the decisions that helped put us in this position will be the same ones making judgement on the next manager, all while on the way out of the door. I know its a bit of a catch 22 situation with the new chairman decision hanging over us. But i just hope they actually involve "football people" in the decision making process this time. because our last 2 managers have been appointed by a coach tour operator backed up by a PR person, and in the case of jones, a delivery driver. There were good people involved in this club with experience at various levels of football. They are no longer involved and there's only one person behind all of them leaving

Football people being KW. If you can't stomach RJ or KW, then not sure where we go, genuinely

fair and valid point. I'm sure there are plenty of area's of the club that kevin could have a positive impact on.
But this is the same guy who got rid of the data analyst because we dont do any in depth match preperation anymore, pushed out craig mckay, a modern coach who motivated the players in a way neither of the other 2 managers this season did, and replaced him by putting an unelected board member onto the coaching staff who has absolutely no credentials to be there. Hardly screams of someone with their finger on the pulse of the modern game.
I also have absolutely no idea where we go from here. I guess we just hope and pray that one of the potential candidates for the chairman role has a plan of how to put us in a more stable position off the pitch which will give us a fighting chance on it.
But then again. the reality is that if a new ground isnt sorted very soon then all of this is irrelevant as there wont be a club to keep going.
football is rubbish at times

If i remember correctly, Phil lines was chairman at the time and the decision was made by him and Stephen Barlow after someone from hereford had phoned up Phil and told him he needed to give Andy an interview.

Yes none of the current board were involved in the Andy Whing appointment.

Not much to add. I just wish we'd acted earlier.I'm not sure we'd have stayed up under Jones judging by player dissent but KW never helped his cause by ditching McKay.Those two home games we played with passion and fight, since then nothing. Can't help but wonder if we had no intention of staying up. Pure apathy now, spent 85 quid on the train yesterday and didn't even venture out the clubhouse.Compare that with Scarborough 12 months earlier, frightening fall from grace.
