Looking at our remaining games I think we could possibly pick up a maximum of eleven points. That will almost certainly see us relegated. So sad after getting to this level. All the great work is slipping away. Crowds are down by around 600. Income is obviously a lot less. How can the club increase income? We are a cbs, reliant on match income and sponsorship money. Simple fact is, we cannot afford to play in the National league. A change in the way the club is run from above is needed. We need a big money backer to be a competitive National League side. That will not happen whilst we are a cbs. Most of us have heard the takeover rumours. It is time for the board to fully put members in the picture. If we decide to stay as a cbs then we must accept that we will need to drop a couple of levels. Of course it may all be meaningless if we haven't got a ground to play at. As for this season, sadly, I think the game is up.

I cannot see us getting another point - we just don't look like scoring, although last night was better. Our best hope is against Bishop's Stortford and if we lose that we may as well throw in the towel.
I also agree we need to re-think the business model - the CBS has worked well to get us in the national league but we need additional finance to hold let alone push on. I don't see any point in dropping a couple of leagues otherwise we are at Easington's level who are in better shape and run much better.
The board have gone very quiet and the members need explanations of what is happening / planning / financials.
'We are United' Not at the moment...

Why is the CBS model a barrier to financial support? Any individual who wishes to donate large sums of cash is free to do so. No one 'invests' in a football club at this level in order to get a return. People do it because they want to.
It was clear that economies had to be made after last seasons losses. We know the consequences of that exercise. It was very badly done. The legal structure of an organisation is of no relevance if the officers make the wrong decisions.

Problem is Steve that anyone willing to put in a substantial sum will want a big say in how the money is spent. Being a board member of a cbs will not give a new investor much say. If things are happening and/or going wrong behind the scenes, then surely the members should be notified? It is all very cloak and dagger for a 'supporters owned club'.

Anyone who turns up offering £100K or more a season won't meet much resistance from any board member!

First Post on this forum, I'm an Oxford United fan who gets along to Banbury when I can. It's depressing in North Oxfordshire at the moment. It needs a complete overhaul of the set up. It is such a shame to see the results each week after all that Andy Whing achieved in getting the club to the NLN.
Unfortunately, even winning all the remaining games probably won't be enough, and without change I can't see this level ever being achieved again

Devil's advocate time ;
Even if Whingy, Pead & Co were still at the helm this season, it would've been a helluva struggle - the signs were there in the last half of last tseason.
We are Banbury United - we used to only dream of being in the same league as (former Football League) clubs like Darlington, Scunthorpe, Hereford, Chester, Southport and Boston BUT we achieved our promotion dreams and FA Cup runs as a CBS club eg without a wealthy financial backer.
Were our seasons in NLN the reward and culmination/pinnacle of the efforts of people like Ronnie Johnson, Stephen Barlow, Nigel Porter, Mark Allitt and many, many others who rescued this Club with the CBS model from its previous ownership ? To me, probably yes !
This is football, some clubs over achieve and then enter a slump, some clubs get relegated.
This is simply a time to regroup and rebuild.

All you can say is if AW and Co had stayed at least we would have had some semblance of a team to start with. Kicking off with only two players has killed us from the start, whatever went on behind the scenes to cause a mass exodus of players remains a mystery and the much talked about friction between AW and the chairman hasn’t helped. The reasoning behind affordability is a valid argument but to abjectly give up like we seem to have is depressing. Safe to say there has to be a lot of work close season to try to make us competetive again because as it stands this squad couldn’t win a raffle let alone compete in the Southern League.Many questions still left unanswered.
