Banbury lost this despite twice taking the lead, the second time with less than ten minutes to go. Grantham claimed Gooderick was offside when he raced through to score but it was the same player who was penalised harshly for handball on the edge of the Banbury box in the last minute. Grantham scored from the free-kick and followed that up with the winner in stoppage time.
1990:
Banbury went into this match with just two wins and 11 points from 23 matches and were behind early on. An own goal from Nigel Vince levelled the score soon after half-time but Grantham took the lead again with about 15 minutes to go. Wayne McDowell equalised for Banbury in the 83rd minute, scrambling the ball in after Donovan Gethfield headed down a free-kick and almost straight from the restart it was the unfortunate Vince who made the mistake that allowed Les Tonks to run through and score from 20 yards. Banbury hung on against a late Grantham assault.
