Which players would the forum members keep who might function better under a different manager? In the short term, a new manager would work with what he has and make quick decisions to bring in new players. There is a theory in football that a new manager brings a bounce effect and with it more points. I understand your question Steve, but change has to start somewhere.

Jack, that's it. I understand that we are working with a limited budget, but it can be so much better, as proven by Whingy. Attacking, attractive football.

Just playing Devil's Advocate ....
I'm reading posts thinking I'm going mad - yes Whingy was a great Manager for us apart from him leaving us right in the brown stuff re the timing of his resignation and the distinct lack of signed players on our books. Interesting that he only won three league games from January 2022 to end of season (Southport away late on was huge !) and we ended up 5points above the drop zone - so it wasn't all sunshine & flowers and I recall us all thinking that we'd done so well staying up based on our resources ?
Mark Jones didn't have a full transfer window to work in, quite the opposite in fact
Mark Jones didn't have a full pre-season with a full squad
Who says the Club has enough money to sack Mark Jones & crew, appoint a new manager & crew and then muster up money for new signings ?
.....
One thing i'd look for though in a Banbury Manager would be contacts in the game and the possibility of using those to get loan players in. Again, the Board didn't have a full market of Managers to choose from and so it goes on !!!

Today's results OK but could have been better with Spennymoor saved from defeat by the weather and Peterborough winning very late. They were level at 90 mins, went ahead, Bishop's then missed a penalty and Sports scored a fourth. Eight points clear so perhaps they'll be a bit too relaxed next Saturday...

Didier makes a fair point, we did only finish 5 points above the drop. BUT,the big difference was the actual football that was being played. We were always a threat. We played attacking football, always enjoyable to watch. None of us old timers are daft enough to expect promotions or even the play offs, but we have every right to expect entertaining play from a team of lads good enough to compete at the level. We are all cbs members and we are aware that the manager was given a fair budget to work with. I repeat myself again, the players are giving their best, but they are miles away from the required level. The manager built this team, it's his tactics. It's just not good enough.

Jones did have a pre season with the squad, the fact is he couldn't build a strong enough one we were like a revolving doors of players, we still are in some respect....not quite on a Stein level.
Why don't we get another loan player in, brackley today signed a prolific NLN striker on loan from Solihull, why can't we get a sniff, our 2 loan players are proving to be are stand out players so what not add one more.
No contacts, no style...no idea!!....ps hope I'm proved wrong on Monday and the fickle world of football will have me dancing!

But do loan players cost £££££££££ ? Some clubs would want wages and costs covered, others (generally with money) can do friends favours. A club like Banbury could get some promising youngsters in who would have full-time experience, fitness & desire or we could get an experienced player in who's recently recovered from injury and needs match fitness/game time etc., it's all about connections

In this case though, Connor Hall isn't a promising youngster being loaned out for a small consideration. I wonder if AW has ever thought about a little favour for the club that launched his managerial career so well...
