Hats off to the puritans that travelled especially the two who flew in via Ireland but three points and a clean sheet would be very handy Tuesday night

Didn't go yesterday. Unfortunately this is now looking bad. 4 poor heavyish defeats. Still early days but I am afraid, apart from Jack, the players are not good enough for this level. Hope I am wrong

FA Cup 2Q draw tomorrow. That could set up an interesting test of the team's capabilities.

Sometimes we have to take responsibility for our mistakes and take action quickly to rectify them after learning lessons, this rings true in the appointment of our manager during the summer. I think quite a few people have that gut feeling about the current situation, that it needs urgent attention. If we carry on down the current path we will concede over 100 goals, we will exit early from all cup competitions, crowds will eventually average 500, the finances will suffer to the point of no return, and relegation is guaranteed. That is my sole opinion and I wish I could back the current manager, but I can't. The players are sub-standard journeymen, they are not a team. I know there are a few who are still saying to get behind the manager and the team, but we have to look at facts including the team's stats. Does anybody feel the same way?

Teams do take time to gel so I’m more than happy to give them a few more months but I do admit the early signs don’t look great

As with most things decisions have to come from the top and if they are the wrong ones change has to come from the top down. The amount of changes that have occured at board level don’t help. You have to ask the question as to why a fare fee have left and of course personal reasons are always cited or other work commitments and before anyone says anything volunteering is a thankless task but there has to be a reality that the club needs to be run to equal the level we are now at not the one below. Tin hat on and behind the sofa.

Tough place to go to to get points Indeed. SS are where they are because of the backing of self-made millionaire Geoff Thompson and attendances of 2,000. Mind you, good support doesn't always translate into success, as Chester and Hereford show. And what about Darlington, stuffed 5-0 yesterday by little (!) Buxton? At the turn of the year they were top after winning 5-2 at Scarborough; at the start of February they were second but then won only two of their last 17. Meanwhile, from mid-February, Banbury won just one of their last 18. The two clubs' records in that period are similar and alarming: Darlington P24 W3 Pts 18, Banbury 25 3 19. A big fortnight coming up, with two home games against tough mid-table teams and then the FA Cup.

We haven't been relegated and South Shields sit joint second in the table
There can't be a single supporter who thought that we'd have an easy time this season after the latter part of season 22-23 and also after losing our most successful Manager and a chunk of the team.
We've lost games but we've also won a couple so any Sparky-esque real doom & gloom talk for me is premature in my opinion.
We were all very happy to stay up last season, we are punching above our weight as a club. We ask for continuing effort from the players and for them to wear the shirt with pride and we'll see where we end up.

I feel a little in two minds about this situation. On one hand, brand new team, coaching staff and changes in board members would mean it will take a while to find feet in the league. Fixing a style of play, character and personality for the team to develop. I get that and personally I was anticipating a tough and difficult start to the season.
On the other hand, all players (bar 2) have been chosen and presumably scouted by the manager - so for them 'not to be able to perform at this level' leaves me a tad perplexed.
The manager's reaction in the SS post-match interview, whilst honest and sincere isn't likely to be much of an inspirational message for the current squad ahead of Tuesday's game.
I'm not any sort of expert in these matters. However, I'm allowed my opinion I feel. Final observation is that the manager and team feels a little less professional (in ambition) than the way the AW staff presented.

He obviously feels let down but equally as said above, he hand picked the majority. Being left with bare bones is down to whoever... I'm not slagging off Lord Whing but he had new ideas with his new club and retaining any lads here was no where near top of his list. I'm not sure how much the board would have offered MJ help or if the help was declined. Either way I'd be very surprised if any lads come in before Tuesday, but maybe the rocket at full time and if any listen to the interview they might dig in a fight Tuesday.
Footballs a funny old game

Just watched the highlights, and I can see Jack Harding is frustrated. Plain and simple, it is not just one or two players that need replacing, it is the whole squad. They looked lethargic and didn't see much evidence of a fight from the players. We do have a massive problem and really don't like the attitude that we as a club are punching above our weight, just feels like an excuse. The biggest issue with recruitment is the lack of quality, We just sign up anyone who has played a game or two at this level, and more often than not they are players from the South East.
