Just been reading this article: www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/23542818.andy-whing-discusses-future-resigning-banbury-united-manager/Seems AW wants a full-time job, which BUFC obviously could not offer. I think the fact he had 3 'day' jobs during his time with us was, unsurprisingly, an issue. As a club we simply can't afford to have a full-time or even 'hybrid' set-up yet. It is a shame AW resigned. Personally, I thought he would leave at the end of last season. Shame it took over 3 weeks to be sorted - I assume the board did everything they could to try and keep him. He says “It’s something I’ve been thinking about for the last couple of weeks, I felt I’d taken the club as far as I can." I think that means 'he's taken the club as far as I can - with the resources at my disposal'.

Hopefully the Oxford Mail article will now stop the Twitter witch hunt aimed at the Board who work their rear ends off on our behalf.
Andy Whing was fantastic for this Club and we were great for him, I've no doubt he'll prove to be a successful Football League Manager and I really hope he gets the right opportunites - his resignation has put him in the shop window at the right time (for him) and we'll all follow his progress for sure
--
We are punching above our weight being in the National League North, we have no divine right to stay there and we all need to support the Club in their efforts to stay at this current level if we can.
We are where we are through hard work on and off the pitch by everyone fans included, we need that to continue.

There's nothing in that interview that I heard where he says the Board are to blame or are bad people - Whingy's taken a very mature decision knowing that we've overachieved based on our resources and we don't have any financial clout/wealthy benefactor that could give us a really good chance of achieving comfortable NLN status or better. Whingy's very sensibly getting out while ahead unfortunatey

I'm not blaming the board. Or AW. Merely pointing out that the interview can be read/heard in different ways depending on initial position. Therefore, the interview will not draw a line under the situation. UTP!

The e-mail I received today about the EGM was sent at 8.08am. Did the board decision pre-empt the petition?
