Well ,what can you really say,not a game for the purist’s,one of those games where the final score is what matters. For large parts of the game it was backs to the wall stuff and the main turning point was Jacks penalty save at 2-1. With only one viable sub it was always going to be challenging but Coalville were their own worst enemies gifting us the first two goals. Comic moments included the ref colliding with Babos and ending up flat on his back then subsequently going down again and leaving the field for treatment. The young lad Hewitt came on and he is very fast and caused them a few problems with getting his deserved reward of the third goal. I was surprised at the relatively small away participation given that Coalville is not that far away and it being a cup game. Anyway Gateshead up next and hopefully we will have a stronger team to field.

One of those games. Unconvincing at times, but money and next round now beckons.

I thought Coalville had decent support for midweek, as many as we took to Hereford at a weekend.
Peculiar game with Banbury punishing mistakes. Penalty save the turning point

Think Banbury to Hereford and Coalville to Banbury mileage wise is a bit different. Given it was a cup game their support could have been a bit better.

Into the next round is all that matters, I really hope the club push hard on publicity for the Gateshead game , let’s get a big crowd in , big performance on the pitch and even more glory for Banbury United

Good win. Coalville gave it a real go, fair play to them. Thought Hewitt looked very good. Bring on Gateshead!!

Coalville managers post match is worth watching, total contrast to the excuse for a manager at Hereford.

www.banburyguardian.co.uk/sport/football/home-form-will-hold-the-key-in-banburys-push-for-a-play-off-place-4010957"...the Puritans claimed a 3-2 victory at Hereford last Saturday...and followed that up by reaching the last 16 of the FA Trophy for the first time since 1974 thanks to a 3-2 home win over Coalville Town..."
At least someone got it right! Being the 5th Round rather than the 3rd of 1971 and 1974 has caused a bit of confusion in some circles. For the record: In 70-71, Banbury won five rounds (from 1Q) and in 73-74, three (from 3Q). This season's run is the equivalent of the latter. The only other occasion that a Banbury side won at least three rounds was in 87-88 (1Q-3Q), losing in the 1st Round to Wealdstone.
