Sadly I wasn’t there either but it was interesting to note that this is the third game in which an opposition player has been sent off, says something about the type of play at this level but that’s not to say all teams are going to be like it.

Overall a fair result, on the balance on play. Our first two goals were both crisp passing team goals. The sending off was correct to the laws of the game, but not vicious or dangerous play. The keeper's yellow was correct too, albeit irrelevant as he had to go off.

Outstanding 2nd half. Having seen all 7 games so far, no team is better than us 🙂🙂🙂

Lack of respect from these so-called big nonleague clubs, they need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and be humble. Southport can have all the excuses under the sun, their tactics reminded me of Hellenic football on steroids, hoof it up the park to the big men. Southport simply passed off the pitch second half, just no answer to the Banbury players' movement off the ball. The entitlement from some on the Port chat forum yesterday evening was cringe-worthy. One wrote that he is fed up with being beat by pub teams and others wrote the team needs investment, they clearly don't understand how Banbury has built success.

Really pleased for Harry Parsons. Clearly that goal meant a lot to him

Ditto Hereford and Darlington supporters. "We're Football League, we are!" No, you're not. Those who recognised Banbury's qualities are a small minority. The breaking of the Football League's Old Pals Act was one of the better things to happen to English football in the last 40 years.

As Southport haven't been in the Football League since 1978 not sure how many of their supporters remember the 'Glory Days'

This really was a game of two halves in the truest sense. First half we looked average at best. It was no surprise when Southport took the lead. The atmosphere was dreadful, the description of football in a library was very apt. The crowd was virtually silent and that seemed to get through to the players. Then came the second half!! What a difference. The Tramway Army appeared from nowhere, the noise was ramped up and that in turn made for a brilliant atmosphere. Suddenly we looked a different team, challenging, running at them and shooting from everywhere. We proved to be far too good for the visitors as the final score confirmed. Make no mistake the crowd really were the twelfth man. A lot of credit for this win must go to the lads in the Army!! Well done to them for creating a cracking second half atmosphere, you really could see the difference it made to the players. After a shaky first half it turned out to be a very enjoyable afternoon.
