And up they go! What a great story – and they were in the play-offs only because Welwyn failed a ground inspection.
Banbury first went to North Leigh in Feb 1993 for an Oxon SC tie – Hellenic Div One v. Premier. Banbury came close to losing the match. Late in the second half, North Leigh's mountainous centre-half 'Togger' (remember him?!) hit the Banbury bar with a long-distance rocket, the defence cleared their lines and John Evans steamed up the gradient to score the only goal of the game. The Banbury fans in the attendance of 93 treated it like a cup final winner.
We thought we'd never get out of the Hellenic, let alone be where we are today. North Leigh's achievement is, arguably, just as great.

Many congratulations to North Leigh, what a fantastic achievement for such a small club. A great day for them.
I well remember the OSC game in 93, what a goal from John Evans !! Togger was a real character, Sparky loved him !!!!!!
