A group of them were behind me on station approach chanting "Banbury is a sh*thole". I saw some commotion going on in the early part of the match from my position, standing at the Townend, not sure what happened apart from a few people running around and a bit later seeing a copper. Not sure if anyone knows with certainty whether they were Tamworth fans or not, or just some group coming to cause trouble. Massive credit to the Banbury fans for not reacting to the provocation.
An emotional day yesterday, so glad the team got the title.

They were 100% Tamworth fans as I spoke briefly to the lad who was on the floor literally getting a kicking .

Sent an e-mail to the Banbury Guardian this morning pointing out their failure to even acknowledge our achievement, couple of hours later, there is at least something on the website.

Sent an e-mail to the Banbury Guardian this morning pointing out their failure to even acknowledge our achievement, couple of hours later, there is at least something on the website. I read the article a rehash of the puritans post game interviews and report from Banbury, no actual physical work. Jon Dunham at Northampton telegraph (Banbury Guardian parent company) clearly focused on the northants team down the road and updated the BG website last night accordingly!

Agreed, it's hardly perfect, some parts lifted from the League website as well, however, it's something.

I also E Mailed and got a reply, and it would appear that the normal practice is to wait for the club to submit their report, however the Northants area reporter was at the game hence why their report was shown. The reporter for our area apparently had a large area so I can only presume there was something more important going on elsewhere. The main reason given is staffing shortages due to cutbacks, that said our game should have been given some priority.

I haven't received a direct response, the general Sports e-mail address bounced back anyway. To be honest the relationship has been poor for some time but logic would dictate that the majority of Banbury Guardian readers would be connected to Banbury. Oh well, maybe next season they'll be more interested.

I mailed the sports editor direct whose name is the byline for the article. So at least something worked.

Huge game, absolutely massive. My dream could come true tomorrow, BUFC in the National League. I would expect a crowd close to 2000.Come on you mighty Puritans!!!!!! And you were right...well, closer to 2,000 than 1,500! Best league gate since Good Friday 1968. Not sure where Radio Oxford got their 'biggest in 40 years'.
