This is brilliant news. I really was thinking that it would never happen, but at last it's a real possibility. I remember back in the 70,s it was mooted that we would be moving to spiceball, but of course it never happened. Now it really could happen. In my opinion it would be the catalyst of a whole new beginning. Fingers crossed that this time it comes to fruition.

I don't think this is much of an advance on the last report; CDC has merely 'resolved to approve' the application which was made sometime ago. Note also this: "An agreement to secure the land for the football ground must be made before planning permission is granted."
It's still only 6 acres. The Stadium today is about 5 if you include the car park and all the land behind the Town End and on the river side.

Trying to put a bit of positivity on things, at least we have been mentioned in the public domain after god knows how long.

The commitment to the new ground is supposedly written into planning law through the Local Plan (much revised). Of course a bit of publicity is a good thing and many statements have been made by CDC and councillors in the last 10-15 years but we are still some way from drawings and contracts.
