I think we can stop worrying a little bit less now,but I won't be breathing a sigh of relief just yet, knowing how this game can kick you right in the teeth

Just got in...
We all thought the first goal was an o.g. – the reaction of the players on both sides seemed to indicate that it was (perhaps someone can ask Learoyd). In any case, it came from an Ashton corner that swung and dipped late towards the far post. The penalty was a correct decision but was needlessly given away in the corner of the area (the foul was on Stone). Shortly after that Ashton was fortunate to stay on the field after a wild lunge – he will be thankful that the Hemel player just about saw it coming and got a grazed shin rather than a broken one.
So in some senses a lucky win but Hemel didn't offer much. Banbury defended well when they needed to – Joe made a couple of good saves – though there was a bit too much hoofing to clear only for the ball to be returned. Northampton loanee Will Green impressed with his pace when he came on and almost scored near the end; Stone got away on the right and crossed, Green's flick was blocked by the keeper and a defender.
A rather poor game but who cares in the circumstances?
Attendance of 208 seems a little generous; maybe 35 from Banbury.

Hemel have been inconsistent of late - glad we caught them on possibly a bad day. Having said that they didn't create much and often seemed to get into good positions but then pass again rather than a more direct approach. Joe M failed to sort out one cross which caused some trouble but generally, as in recent weeks, his handling was good.
Although we didn't have many real chances we did look threatening with Joe and Jack putting some good balls into the box.
The defender who tripped Stone on the edge of the box back facing to goal must be kicking himself but it was a clear penalty.
I thought Green looked a very useful player - it would be a shame if he replaced Rose though who is one for the future and works very hard as well as providing an aerial presence.
208 certainly looks a geneorus attendance figure. The ground is pretty good for this level with decent covered standing at both ends, friendly well run club too.

Despite the efforts of first great western to ruin the day,a pretty good outing. Liked the new lad Green, and thought we were quite comfortable.Maddox is similar to Fuller on Pens, you know he's not going to miss.Got to be safe now,one win from Oxford or Stourbridge will do. usual shenanigans on the way home, the Scotsman and the small matter of collecting £1070 pounds for a £4 stake on 8 football matches.

Joe M failed to sort out one cross which caused some trouble but generally, as in recent weeks, his handling was good. To those who occasionally knock Joe, be careful what you wish for - you could end up with someone like the Hemel keeper who looked every bit an outfield player in goal just to cover injuries ! Re Steve T's "poor game", I didn't think it was that bad and you've got to take in to account the air shots and slices caused by a pitch that hadn't been rolled, watered or even cut ! Nice afternoon and three deserved points !
