Winding up hearing, 23rd February
The following post just about sums it up:
*Because nobody should want their club to fold, or "not be bothered!
And much more importantly, no club should have the right to be wound up or fold, just so they can resurrect themselves 2 (or possibly 3) levels down the pyramid debt free...whether they're run by the supporters or not. It makes a farce of the pyramid and of non league football....and of the business of running a football club.
We've seen it time and again with Telford, Nuneaton, Farnborough....with Farsley, Chester, Halifax and King's Lynn Town no doubt not far behind! Within a few short seasons they're all back where they were before, debt free, playing at their old grounds as if nothing had happened, huge attendances, renewed buzz etc etc - passing clubs by that have for years lived within they're means for years and paid their taxes as if they were doing 120mph down the motorway! Its unfair!
I'm glad they've all restarted, I don't like to see any club disappear altogether but this is getting beyond a joke now. They should all have started at the bottom (at the very least Step 6!) and should have had restrictions put in place by the FA for x amount of years on how much they can pay their players, as an example! Kind of like a probation period before regaining their full independence!
I know my own club has been no angel, so I don;t want to sound condescending or hypocritical but at least my club tried, in vain, to reach an agreement with HMRC and the Conference...the latter actually praising us for our co-operation (under new owners by then) and saying they regretted relegating us two divisions but had to under the rules! And my club did not fold, nor did it ever seek to as an easy way out of our debt crisis! We're still paying that debt off now (and will be for years to come). Yes only a percentage of the debt but its still better than nothing at all!!!! But we've kept our name, our history and honours remain ours and not consigned to the record books!
And yet despite the different routes wehave taken to the clubs mentioned above we find ourselves only one division above Chester (who caused havoc upon the Conference last season and folded midway through), level with Halifax and a division below Nunny, Telford and Farnborough! Oh yes i see this is all perfectly acceptable! Fold away at will why don't you! *
