Are The Poppies on the way out? Administration beckons as Kettering's relocation experiment begins to unravel. The circus that is Ladak's World has been one of the highlights of recent seasons for the connoisseur of the tragicomic. If KT's fans move quickly they could start up a new club in time for next season so that Kettering 1872 and AFC Rushden & Diamonds can meet in UCL1, although 2013-14 is more likely (if AFC haven't been promoted by then). Of course, the matches won't be played in Kettering or Rushden. KT lost 0-7 at York on Saturday and just about everything is up for sale (not that they have any assets of note).
It's not beyond the bounds of possibility that Northampton and Corby could meet in the Conference next season. If Cobblers were relegated it would break their 82-season run in the Football League and would leave the county without a club in the top four divisions of English football for the first time since they joined in 1920. Northamptonshire's ACC will be praying they stay up if Corby are promoted and that if the latter occurs that Kettering go down should they survive.
Meanwhile, just up the road from me, Banbury old boy Jason Turner is enjoying his time at Wellingborough with 15 goals in the 19 games he's played this season, including all three in WT's 3-4 defeat at King's Lynn on Saturday (they came from 0-2 down to lead before losing). Luke Cray is also in the Wellingborough team.
EDIT:
Turner, Taylor, it's almost the same. It was of course Jason Taylor who played for Banbury, not Turner. The latter played for a number of clubs around this area, including Rothwell, and has certainly played against Banbury.
