Hednesford Town have withdrawn from competitive football for the 23-24 season. A long-running dispute over the ownership of the club and ground has forced their resignation. They had been relegated from the SL's Premier Division Central to the NPL Div 1 West, their lowest level since 1983-84 when they were promoted from the West Midland League to the SL. When they return, they will almost certainly have to start two levels lower. Three years ago, at the start of the pandemic, Droylsden resigned from NPL1NW (Step 4); they have just been admitted to NWCL1 (6). Last season, Bitton resigned from the Western League Premier; they have been readmitted to Div 1 (also 6). www.hednesfordtownfc.com/2023/05/update-on-ownership-transfer

"Turned out alright in the end..."
In as much as they started the season but not alright on the field as they're bottom of NPL Div 1W and in danger of returning to the feeder league football that they left 40 seasons ago.
Attendances are still decent though at 500-600.
