A club with a colourful history: 1889 – Nuneaton St Johns formed 1894 – renamed Nuneaton Town 1937 – bust, reformed in two days (!) as Borough 2008 – bust, reformed as Town 2018 – renamed Borough 2019 – ???
I still can't picture their record attendance of 22,000 crammed into the old Manor Park.

The club has a new owner but he's not a rich man: Nick Hawkins, who played a lot of non-league football in the East Midlands and now owns a buildings refurbishment company. It's reported that he has paid the debt but the club still has big running costs, including a reputed £250K playing budget (more than £6K per week) that sees them stuck in the relegation places. There's also the rent for the ground which isn't in a very good state of repair. Typical attendances are around the 500 mark.

But they have been rescued by local-based former non-league player Hawkins, who runs a refurbishment company. Doesn't elaborate anymore on what he actually refurbishes. Got a bit more, doesn't own a caravan Who is Nick Hawkins? Began his football career with Nottingham Forest, before going on to play non-league football at various clubs further down the pyramid: Goole AFC, Shepshed Dynamo, Hucknall Town, Gresley Rovers, Long Eaton United, Dunkirk and Leicester Road, for whom he is still playing this season. Enjoyed his biggest notoriety as a player in 2007-08 at Chasetown, with whom he beat Team Bath and Port Vale (after a replay) to reach the third round of the FA Cup, in which they briefly led against Cardiff City before being beaten 3-1. Briefly managed Eastwood Town and Nuneaton's neighbours Bedworth United. "I've had a good time as a player and then had a dabble in management, which is the hardest job in football. Now, to put the final cream on the cake, I've got a chance to guide and drive an exciting project and it's one that I'm looking forward to," he says. Boro's first game under Hawkins' control will be this Saturday's home derby with neighbours Leamington, followed by a trip to Chester next Tuesday.

Highly likely we'll be playing them again next season.

This club seems to stumble from one financial crisis to another and has done for many years. I guess you have to feel sorry for the supporters but they have always had a big club mentality that has not been backed up for years.
