It looks like the arrangements will be as last year, with the first two rounds of each competition drawn and announced in early July. If so, we'll know our Trophy draw (First Qualifying) on Friday 7th July but will have to wait until Monday 14th August for the FA Cup (also First Qualifying) .

In his interview yesterday, Mike Ford made a reference to the rarity of two clubs being drawn together in the FA Cup and Trophy in the same season. It's never happened to Banbury before in their opening round but in 05-06 they were drawn away to Brackley in the FA Cup 2Q after beating King's Lynn, and in the Trophy in 1Q. Both ties were drawn; Banbury won the replays.

Banbury's location and the FA's flexible interpretation of the regions means we're always likely to be moved around but this long run in the SW is unusual. Until relatively recently it was mostly midland or East Anglian. However, Banbury's last run to the first round started with away ties at Evesham, Witney and Cinderford.
