Law returns to Kettering to take charge of Poppies
29 May 2015
Marcus Law is returning to Kettering Town for his second spell as First Team Manager following the recent decision to appoint a sole manager for the start of the 2015/16 season.
The club received a number of applications from across the football community and the Board, following the completion of the interview process, offered the position to Marcus who takes over with immediate effect.
Law's playing career was cut short due to a hip injury sustained whilst playing in the US and he took up management, finding success at Barwell winning the Midland Football Alliance with a 66 game unbeaten streak. This successful run was enough to give him his first opportunity at The Poppies in October 2010 where, during the start of a turbulent spell for the club, he achieved a win rate of just over 35% with 13 wins and 9 draws out of 37 matches over an 8 month period. Spells at Tamworth, where he led them to an FA Cup 3rd Round tie with Everton, Forest Green Rovers, and most recently Chasetown FC followed.
Ritchie Jeune, club Chairman, is delighted with the appointment, identifying Marcus as a manager who can work across all of the club’s age groups and bring continued success to KTFC "We're glad we have been able to secure Marcus as first team manager. Not only does he have the experience to meet the clubs first team aspirations but he also has a proven track record with developing and fostering Academy players and coaching staff which was one of the key requirements set out by the board at the start of the process. We had a large number of applicants which we short listed, all of whom were exceptional and had much to offer but in the end we felt Marcus has the right balance to deliver within our demanding environment".
On his appointment Marcus Law said "I am proud to be back amongst friends and colleagues of a club that is very close to my heart for numerous reasons and can't wait to back in front of the Poppies’ heart beat on Saturday afternoons. Can I take this opportunity to thank Chasetown for the opportunity they gave me and their understanding of my position to re-join the Kettering Town revolution!!"
