Sorry Overthorpe but can't agree win the Swindon comment. The players don't care about he future of the management of he club just as long as they get paid for doing very little. As for Stein's proven record, where was that at? Phil Lines had more ideas than him. Have to agree win Steven about the Russians and their organisation off the pitch. They are now seeing benefits of not having many games played on what was the worst pitch for miles around by not having a reserve set up. They seem to attract money to the club, hence their major re-development that I hear is taking place. Once our poor relations, we can now only dream and I mean DREAM of being anywhere near where they are.

Wasn`t at the game so cannot make any comments, although sounds like it was a similar game to , or worse than , the Gosport game last week which I did manage to get to.
A couple of quotes from the Hitchin website, which sum up the game and the issue of the over use of the pitch quite nicely.
" Banbury, who have fielded something like 70 players this season, looked ragged and disorganized. Their manager, Edwin Stein, left the field with local fans chanting, “you don’t know what you’re doing”.
" Victory was secured on one of the worst pitches Hitchin have played on in years. To be fair to Banbury, their playing surface is something of a millstone for them, sitting as it does beside a river. But it did look like the local gymkhana had take place on it just a few days earlier. If ever there was an argument for smaller leagues or a mid-winter break, this playing surface provided the evidence. "

Just to let overthorpe know Ade was injured at training Thursday night, took a knock to his right knee.Saw him Saturday knee very swollen and slight damage to his ligament I doubt will be available Tuesday or Thursday and poss out for Sat aswell, but being a young lad healing time can change. As for Kenzer he got a pull in his quads came off injured and is still on the injured list hope that clears that up for you. Also on Saturday Jack came off with a twinge in his hamstring and Stefan came off with a slight quad strain both players recieved treatment at halftime. And I would say both only 50/50 for Tuesday. quality post Craig, 4 changes from the tinkerman, time to stand down Edwin,it aint working. See jed no abuse, just so obvious to the paltry crowd that most of the team aint putting it in and the manager hasnt got the nous or knowhow to figure it out. The stadium hasnt been this quiet for years. Jed agrees with this .... ES about to get the dreaded vote of confidence? Obviously has contacts to get players to OX16 but he does nothing to inspire many on the town end. Sorry your disappointed with my posts 'as normal' - but that's the way it is.

They are now seeing benefits of not having many games played on what was the worst pitch for miles around by not having a reserve set up. An integrated reserve set up in a positive. Would love to see Banbury lads, if they are good enough, get a chance in the 1st team. I have helped out on the pitch this year to get games on. Not as much as some people who have worked tirelessly to do so. Given the weather this has been a miracle and I think any comments need to be tempered by the understanding about the work that goes in. .

It would be interesting to hear an ex player's view point. There must be almost 40 players who have left the club this season and I'm sure that some of them read this forum. I agree with the notion that what is said in the dressing room must stay in the dressing room but that wouldn't prevent players expressing an opinion on their own experiences at the club.

Calmed down after Saturday.
Frustrated like many others. The Jekyll and Hyde performances are difficult to fathom.
The problem is improvements have been definite, the football up to last Saturday good, but you tell your mates they come and see, and when they do you look like an idiot because 'the same old Banbury' rears its ugly head.
No progress with crowds will happen without consistency. You don't mind losing if the performance and effort are good

exactly the sort of excuse i expected to hear, but answer me this mr stein. who picked the defence and left arguably our best defender on the bench? the same person who has changed the back 4/5 on almost a match to match basis. and as for blaming the referee, thats just embarrassing. not even the most deluded of us behind the goal on saturday would have attributed the result to the referee, and we've been using that excuse since the dawning of time. simple fact of the matter is that the tactics were wrong, the team selection was absolutely wrong, there is a distinct lack of leaders in the squad and there is absolutely zero passion coming out from those who we should rightly expect it. all the fans want is honesty, the more sensible of us understand the off field situation really can't be publicly discussed and we have to trust in those making the decisions, however to have the leader of our team come out with such a pathetic excuse for such a dire performance just sums up where a lot of the problem lies,

As I said in my previous post the team was totally unbalanced from the start because of the changes and how does a player who was only signed the day before get put straight into the squad,it was hardly a game changing choice was it.

The last 2 games have been awful. i give ES his credit bridges was fouled for first goal ref was poor for both sides. As for stuff off the field just better off waiting to see what happens we can all speculate but none of us really know.

Looks like Hitchin's run of form (ok 2 wins lol) got stopped by Leamington last night and a certain Mr Ricky Johnson scoring in injury time. Looks like the only other local team at our level will be heading to the conference North.
