Bit shocked by the back page, regarding Jeds dissapointment at the whole ethos of whinging moaning and the people of the town not backing the team. The last mentioned has been discussed at length, the apathy of the town is very hard to fathom, everyone you speak to knows how they get on but cannot be arsed to go and watch themselves,is it the £9 entry, the car park or the product? What surprised me though is Jeds response to the negativity,Luton whose cup exploits seem sure to end in another season in non league, and Swindons forums have gone mental during there current struggles and i feel we've been pretty fair, some of the recruitment has been a bit leftfield(see ZYLSKI (taken on Bradys recomendation and was utter shite) SIMPSON,a bloke who the word journeyman was invented for,KURISHITA,where did he go,and other 2 game wonders have left a lot of us bemused as to who the hck the team in red are,and i don't care what anyone says,no team should use 10 keepers in one season. Ultimately Jed has got nothing to feel too bad about as the differences in size between Swindon and Banbury are immense, and on crowds averaging 220 as opposesed to 8000 its a no brainer, but i reckon we've been fair to the owners and Stein.

Trouble is all the people whining are the ones that go to the ground see the games and go on the forum and ultimately support the club, we are football fans we moan, we dream about the playoffs and we are glad to avoid relegation every year running on a shoe string.
Its is disingenuous of anyone to have a go at the loyal fans and smacks of a cop out .
Its taken 6 months to find a decent "stable" team with far too many players coming and going.
A stable team heading up the table will slowly bring the crowds back, players we can identify with week in week out who want to play for Banbury Utd and show commitment and desire is all that is needed.
The town has alot of fickle football fans many whom are feeling the pinch and cant afford £9, others who would rather only watch a winning team but its was only around 2005 that we had a crowd of over 1000 to watch us play Br*ckley mid week in the cup.
Moaning will never stop football fans enjoy it, read any forum for any team from the premier league down.
PS this is not a moan !!!!!

Good comments by red duke and whiskey. There is virtually no one on this forum who doesn't go and support.
There have been many who have stated that the problems are historical. The improvement in quality of performances is substantial, but weather especially has been against the club. A good start to next season should bring crowds back, but the significant background improvements need to continue. No one can fault Jeds drive, but surely you have to give a project like this more than part of a season?
Give it the extra time Jed even though we all know that Swindon is a marginally bigger club than Banbury

Fans will only come through the gates when they can be guaranteed to watch a settled team. It is so important to be able to relate to the players and to forge mutual respect. This has not been the case this season.
No doubt the chairman believes that he has always had the interest of the club at heart but he has failed to connect with the town as a whole.
Speak to anyone and the common theme is that they want to see a settled team with players who are actually interested in playing for the club.

I must admit I was surprised at Jed's reaction in the BG, I would'nt know if any other supporters other than the comments on here have voiced their concerns or not,but in the grand scheme of things it is only a small minority that have expressed their views. What Jed needs to understand is that as a football club we have been fighting a losing battle for many years against the good people of Banbury. It will take more time to persuade supporters who have deserted to return. We have to achieve consistency for a sustained period and demonstrate that BUFC is a club worth supporting. The initial takeover and subsequent events early on certainly caused some ripples amongst the faithful as a PR disaster and people did question the motives for the takeover, but as I have said before we have been treading water for far to long and things had to change.I have'nt got a chrystal ball so I don't know where we would be at the moment had Jed not taken us over. Unfortunatly the whole Swindon saga has created more turmoil for the faithful and when it comes down to it all we want to know is what the future holds or at least next season in the short term. I am one of a few left who endured the turmoil of the eighties and the club nearly going to the wall and then the subsequent time spent in the Hellenic wilderness and have no wish to return to those dark days. I understand Jed's frustration but when it comes down to it Rome was'nt built in a day. Apologies for going on but I hope this is a balanced view.

I have just returned home and have duly read the comments. Although I no longer live in the area having moved away back in 1975, I still take great notice of the club. As from 1970 to when I moved away I spent some of my best times watching the club, which has given me long lasting memories. I can not understand why the chairman keeps coming to the fore, in them great days of the early 70s if my memory serves me correct the chairman was Mr Stevens although no one really heard of him as he was never making comments in our local papers, he just got on with running a great club, that by the way was bringing in big crowds. As a supporter, the names just rolled off - Jaques - Moulsdale - butler - foster - year in year out, the continuity was why we had so many great days both home and away. All I can say to anyone who runs or owns the club, please get continuty back, get a good manager and a playing staff that wants to sweat blood for the club, it worked all them years ago, and it will certainly work again. I think M U can certainly vouch for this.

A lot has been said about support from the town but the club needs to promote itself in the town centre. When I was last over from Australia at the Slough Cup match Banbury Rugby club were promoting themselves with much interest from shoppers.
Any news on the Spencer Book Shadders ? I was given a rough date of last November by Brian Little.I look forward to reading of the Glory Years after the war and 50s and 60s when I was a regular at the Stadium standing on the packed terraces at the town end.I have the B U scarf but with temperatures around 40C in Perth now unable to wear it. Go the Reds.

Go the Reds. We have basically a completed manuscript. I have a few amendments to process which Brian wishes to make. These are not a big issue and will be made by Tuesday when we have another meeting and then hopefully I can prepare the disc for sending off to the publisher. Hopefully the publisher will be happy with it - I have no experience of that but Brian is confident The publisher believes it can be available for April - again I have no idea if these sort of dates tend to get pushed back We intend to do a book launch and signing at the main book shop in the Castle Shopping Centre and we will do one at a home game down at the Spencer Stadium in April, assuming the book is available by then. Brian is happy to sign copies and if you want to devalue your book as soon as you have bought it , I will sign it as well! As a taster, attached is the contents page Attachments:

If Jed has an issue with 'whinging and moaning' on our forum, best he check out STFC independent forum thetownend.com they are not holding back with their feelings after PDC left last night. It could be an interesting 48 hours for both clubs.

He's got a job on his hands there,be funny if he appoints an ex luton cronie like Newell,Harford or (please) Stein, watch that one go off. I maintain we have always been pretty fair, the issue now is with the dugout and lack of common sense and crap excuses coming out of it.
