most people are in agreement that the pitch is in very bad shape this has to be addressed asap the amount of football played on the pitch is a major concern and with the weather the way it is its very difficult for the guys to do anything with it so maybe its time for the youth / under 13s/ ladies to play at alternative venues trust i have seen the figures and there should be ample funds to pay for pitches this would mean only the first team and reserves would play home fixtures at the stadium thus giving the groundstaff half a chance Thoughts

No one should be training on it during winter months and especially if they cannot remember turn the bloody lights off!!!
U13s have no alternative venue on a Sunday morning and nor does Youth as they need a floodlight pitch.

It's all to do with money and budgets unfortunately - a pitch in an ideal world should have a professionally drawn up plan each year - this could include any necessary summer works such as removing the existing surface, clearing/installing drainage, levelling, new earth and turves/seeding, sanding, scarifying, vertidrains in autumn/spring
A lower division Football League club can easily spend from £20,000 to £50,000 plus a year on normal pitch maintenace whilst also employing a full-time Groundsman and assistants etc., etc., etc.
Banbury have previously had Walter (R.I.P.) and Nigel Porter busting their balls looking after the hallowed turf at the San Spencer on a voluntary basis !
Totally agree re a pitch should not be over-used though !

It needs a pitch contractor in April to weed kill ...then in May to, vertidrain/scarify, level with 60 tons of special Leighton Buzzard sand/ soil mix, fertilize,,not forgetting good quality grass seed then you will have a good grass coverage by July ( if it rains alot) and improve the drainage...cost in the region of £4,000

Weather forecast this week is not going to help anyone trying to deal with the pitch.
Saturday will prob be another mud bath - if played

Nowhere near those Maths ... Work on 9-10 for your sums. Only 1 mini team uses Spencer leaving all others to rent pitch, Astros for training, rather large insurance and that before refs, kit, medical etc. Living in cloud cuckoo land if you think that will pay first team bills

thanks for all your comments you miss read my thoughts I never for one minute suggested the Kids and youth pay for the first team I merely suggested there should be enough funds for all teams to play/train at other venues thus giving the very hard working ground staff half a chance is that really too much to ask
