I have only recently moved to the area and I am an avid supporter of non league football. I have watched a number of non league clubs over the years, all with there own problems and issues. I remember watching Banbury a couple of times over recent years and still have the programs with names circled that impressed. Names are Kinch, Pond, Baird, Murphy, Gordon, Sullivan, Mckay. All of these players were impressive especially Andy Baird who was in a completely different league to those around him. They were also the same names that appeared week in week out. I suppose the point I am coming to is the current team does not seem to be made up of local players of a high caliber, just journey men who travel to Banbury and are not consistent or frankly passionate about BanburyUtd. Please forgive the ramblings of an old man but I would be interested in the thoughts of more seasoned Banbury supporters.

With the arrival of Billy Jeffey we have managed to get away from the Oxfordshire roundabout where a handful of players rotated from team to team in the local area. With a very tight budget and in order not to go down the throw money at it ethic we now have a very young team drawn from senior teams in the area, some have been released by their clubs and others are on loan to gain experience. As you are probably aware we are not enjoying the best of periods at the moment but having said that the team is capable of beating anybody on their day in the league with a couple of exceptions. Sadly in todays game as you say loyalty to one team is rare with players going where the biggest pay day is,our friends up the road at BTFC are a prime example,it's good to see them doing so well on an over inflated budget!!!. The only players at the moment who could be considered as BUFC players would be Joe Murrell, Ollie Standbridge and Adam Learoyd. Joe and Adam were youth players. The passion still exists on the terraces though, from the hardcore faithful.
