I walked round past the Brackley fans at the end and they were frustrated by there showing. Worst sides than them have turned us over this year and that whining Aussie failure blames our pitch... As poor as it was,we did well to snuff out winters and Storey, the dog abuser never had a sniff, and Franny Green was just whining at the ref. Ashton i'm not sure about,he's just going to keep racking up yellows and reds and i'd prefer Staff. One more whinge,as big as Sandy is why didn't we test him more....

I meant as in, compared to other times when I've been to the Spencer Stadium to watch Brackley the level of home support was a lot lower this time, you must be worried about it. Take off the away support and you were struggling to get above 350 which is probably half that from a couple of years back. Not disagreeing FLF but you have to concede that the away support was at best poor and as I said before, evening games do not tend to attract bigger crowds anyway which is probably why you had so few supporters in attendance .

That was easily the most solid defensive display I have seen this season and suspect Billy will be happy enough with that. I barely saw Maddox or Ollie throughout the whole game and whilst accepting my eyesight isn't great they certainly stuck to defensive duties and defended deep. A shame that the one really good move when Stone fed Benjamin was foiled as a goal would have brought the house down.
Need to follow it up with a win on Saturday of course.
I agree with Yogi not convinced by Ashton over Staff, who apart from the last couple of games (ill?) has been very good this season in my opinion.
The odd duff decision but there will always be some and I thought the fears about the ref were, on the night, unfounded.
Oh forgot to say what is the alleged Brackley budget because can't think their players are worth it!

Well done to Billy J and the lads. Not the best advert for Southern League football but good clean sheet and a decent point for Banbury, although the fact we did not test the stand-in keeper was a disappointment. I thought Brackely were poor considering they were a side full of so many ex-professionals on big money - can't see them making play-offs. Hopefully we will take some confidence into the Halesowen game on Saturday. Have to question the official crowd of 397 - not as big an attendance as on many previous occasions but something around 500 would surely have been more like it, although there did seem to be a lot of people getting in with free tickets/passes, plus it was noticed that a few ex-players seemed to be able to stroll in without paying!

Re. attendance...
My contact tells me that the figure was checked more than once because it did seem a bit low but 397 it is. There was a significant number of guests invited by Nicholls & Co while Brackley took advantage of their allocation of passes – none of these, nor club volunteers, appear in the official figure.

i was on the top gate tuesday and there was quite a few more passes than normal but the major problem we seem to have had over the time i've been on the gate is people sneaking in through the gate at the back of the townend. Also lots of people are not stopping to get there ticket from us and when theres such a big push of people coming through keeping on top of how many people walk off without it can be a bit of a nightmare

...the major problem we seem to have...is people sneaking in through the gate at the back of the Town End... Are you saying the fencing is not secure against freeloaders? Take it up with the club, Craig. Mind you, I'd be surprised if Nigel isn't already onto this – perhaps this is one of his jobs for Sunday. Also, lots of people are not stopping to get their tickets from us... Should that matter as long as you've torn one from the roll for each spectator who's paid?

in theory it shouldnt matter but when your trying to rush everybody through, tickets can get mixed up and forgotten, its never normally been a problem but with the sheer volume of people coming through on tuesday it got a bit messy, if we were down on tickets it wasnt by more than a couple anyway, i think the reason there did look more than the official attendance was mostly down to the extra passes.
as for the gate, its normally something that can be kept on top of if theres enough people helping on the day of a game, the thing we found though is that one person would pay to come in and then go over and unlock the gate from the inside

In view of Craigs comments a board member will come up to the townend gate on Saturday and monitor/help at the gate. You are doing an excellent job we know its not easy when you have a rush on .

Steve
You're having a go at the volunteers and the club sponsor, the club would not function without either of these two body's of people. I'd like you to come down and have a go at doing the gate on a BIG game or doing some of the other volunteer jobs...this club wouldn't run if it wasn't for the volunteers come down early or leaving late, (where would the club be without sponsorship) until you have volunteered down there I think you should keep your opinions to yourself.
I'm mystified by this comment. How on earth do you interpret any of my earlier remarks as being critical of volunteers or the club sponsor? Craig made a couple of valid points about the difficulties of operating the gate. I merely suggested he take them up with the club. There was no criticism at all, although his point about ticketing wasn't very clear, hence my question (post #24). A number of other members had queried the official figure so I asked Nigel off-line if it was correct (there has been at least one previous occasion where a figure has been revised upwards because of a miscalculation). His answer was the basis of my post (#21) which seems to have so upset you. Sponsors' guests and opposition officials are not usually included in attendance figures for league games but different rules apply in the FA Cup, Trophy and Vase, where complimentary tickets should be included in the match accounts. Most reasonable supporters appreciate the work volunteers do. I remember the difficulty that the club had in the early days back in the SL in finding match-day volunteers. Nigel Porter and Pete Meadows have worked tirelessly to improve match-day operation, and well done to Craig and his friends for volunteering because every minute they're involved in official business they're away from the Town End – knowing how committed a supporter Craig is I'd hate to think of him missing any action! However, there is nothing more likely to rile supporters than being told to keep their opinions to themselves unless they've 'done a shift'. Are you suggesting that the only people who should be able to comment or have an opinion on anything are those who volunteer? There is a whiff of self-righteousness about this. There is a big difference between an observation and an opinion, or a question and a criticism...

Hey Yogi, the next time you come over to Brackley, I will introduce you to Jon Brady and you can tell him to his FACE what you think of him. Your pitch was crap - it hadn't even been re-marked out !!!!

You will all notice new fencing has gone up on the riverside this is ahead of the flood alleviation scheme but it will also deter people from trying to get in for now't
