Andy Peaks has made a big impression at Tamworth since his arrival there at the end of February 2022 when the team was sliding badly after a good start. They were 17th, finished 10th and won the SLP Central on the last day of last season to return to National League North after five years away. Fantastic result, beating the league leaders on their own patch, an unexpected and superb three points !!!!!!! It's a very odd table at the moment, with the 19th club just three points from the 7th.

Great effort from the players today.
Tamworth threw everything at us second half, but we came away with an unexpected victory. To be fair Tamworth must have had at least 75% possession, but it's the result that counts.
A good day out,and great to see the squad all celebrating at the final whistle.

Mark Jones interview covered it well. Tamworth on top first 10 mins then Banbury controlled the half. Few chances for either team. Tamworth came out second half fired up. Proceeded to batter us a bit, but the defence stood fast.
A great breakaway goal followed, but we could only hold o for a couple of minutes. Tamworth continued to attack strongly, but there was a 5 minute delay after their moronic fans threw items at the Banbury bench. Police were called and the home club was reported we believe. After this event the referee finally started penalising the home players for constant diving. Right at the end another breakaway goal led to euphoric scenes in the away end.
Probably lucky to win but certainly did not deserve to lose. Also understand that Tamworth received 2 red cards after the final whistle. They were poor losers with some nasty fans, but I am sure the 100 or so Puritans will get the blame for any trouble.

Tamworth manager hasn’t changed from his Rushden days, no credit for us at all in his post match interview, didn’t even mention us by name.
