Banbury make their first visit to Gloucester's new Meadow Park stadium in their first Good Friday fixture for 41 years. Long gone are the days when clubs played three matches over the Easter weekend, with the Friday and Monday fixtures often being double headers against the same opponents. That last Good Friday match was a 0-2 home defeat by Witney Town in front of just 344 spectators; Witney won the return 3-0 at Marriott's Close three days later. Despite the relative closeness of the clubs, this will be just the fourth public holiday fixture in 28 seasons of league competition.
Banbury's record at Gloucester:
Pre-WW2 matches were played at Longlevens, seasons 1966-1986 at Horton Road and 1986-2007 at Meadow Park (Low Level...). The original plans for the return to Sudmeadow Road were for a rather grander stadium (below – £5 million at 2012 prices) than has been built but sense prevailed, hence the use instead of low-cost shipping containers.
