The first Scarborough was formed in 1879, before organised league football began. The club joined the Northern League in 1898 and had subsequent spells in the Yorkshire, Northern Counties, North-Eastern and Midland leagues before becoming founder members of the Northern Premier League in 1968, then the Alliance Premier League (later Conference) in 1979. It was the first club to be promoted as of right to the Football League in 1987. Relegated to the Conference in 1999, successive relegations in 2006 and 2007 preceded liquidation and the loss of the club's Seamer Road stadium. Although initially placed in the NPL, the club was wound up before the new season started. Supporters created a new club as Athletic. Starting in the Northern Counties East Div 1 (level 10), promotions in 2009, 2013 and 2018 took the club into the NPL Premier from which it was promoted this year via the play-offs. After 10 years playing home games 17 miles away at Bridlington Town FC, the club moved into its new home in 2017, barely a quarter of a mile from the old. Attendances last season started at 800-900 but rose to 1,500+ and have continued at that level this season. Their away following is good โ 200 at Brackley, almost 300 at Blyth (100 miles) and probably more than that at Farsley. FA Trophy โ winners 1973, 1976, 1977; runners-up 1975. FA Cup โ more than 30 appearances in 1st Round as non-league club (but with many exemptions to 4Q and 1); 13 times continued to 2nd, five to 3rd and once to 4th (home to Chelsea, 2003-04). None as Athletic. Football Club History Database: Scarborough, Scarborough Athletic

What a fantastic performance, every player gave their all. Make no mistake, Scarborough are a good side, they will be amongst it come April. This was a good 3 points.

Just listened to the Scarborough manager and he said we were probably one of the best teams they have played. Iโve forgotten who was the player involved with a bad challenge but should it have been a sending off their manager thought so,apparently the ref was favouring us for most things, find that hard to believe given our history with a lot of refs๐๐

Iโve forgotten who was the player involved with a bad challenge but should it have been a sending off their manager thought so,apparently the ref was favouring us for most things, find that hard to believe given our history with a lot of refs๐๐ From Scarborough Twitter: 25' Heslop collects a yellow card for the best tackle of the game. 70' Bramall gets taken out and is given a yellow. 85' Gooda brought to the ground with a leg breaking tackle whilst the Banbury player is only given a yellow. The last incident isn't in the highlights.

Didn't see tackle, but it was Connor.
Scarborough didn't seem happy with some decisions but doesn't alter fact that Banbury better team
Scarborough newspaper report made their keeper mom. Says it all

To be fair - I thought their keeper was their best player as well. He looked competent and confident. Not sure if he could have done any better with the goals, I was over in the corner at the time on the 'wrong' side of the pitch.
