Well I am not surprised its quiet on here, bit of let down we do not have a grand finale this Saturday.
But boy o boy do we have a weird scenario now, how do we approach Saturday's game. A point enough to secure pole position in play offs.
Had Taunton won last night fate would of been in their own hands with a superior GD. They would of been gutted, which means they have a advantage, they will not want to taste defeat like that again, so you know that will be up for it big time.
So do Banbury and Taunton play the percentages and save energies for play off or do we see a game of chess with each team seeking to sneak an advantage with minimal effort.
One thing is for sure one reckless challenge or rash decision would be a tragedy for any player involved this Saturday be it an injury or sending off as the play offs would be missed.
Good luck Banbury.

[/quote] I think the advantage is with us,yes Taunton will be gutted about last nights result but no more than our players were to be on the receiving end of a 7-1 drubbing!!,how will Fordy approach the game Saturday?,well there is no doubt in my mind that he will send out our lads to win the game and put things right!,but having the cushion of a point being enough for 2nd spot will help,at the end of the day neither side should they win through to the final will want to be travelling up or down the M5 on a bank holiday Monday!,so i think we will see both sides going for it,it's going to be a cracker! C'MON YOU REDZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!

I'm bothered by the lack of disciplinary sanctions. It could get very ugly out there. Players might be prepared to take a sending-off to crock an opponent, knowing that the teams have a 1 in 4 chance of meeting again 9 days later.
Banbury have something to prove: that the score at Taunton was flukish and that they're not scared of them. Settling for a draw will play into their hands.
Cinderford's win has taken some of the tension out of the game – and a couple of grand off the bottom line. If the title was in Banbury's hands, I don't doubt that more than 1,000 would have turned up, especially if it was a straight fight between the two clubs. A three-way chance, even with Cinderford as favourites, perhaps 800-900. As it is, I wouldn't bet against Taunton already having had the top league gate of the season.

I went last night,Taunton had a few there,no where near as many as we'd have taken.proper noisy fans, cinderford supporters were quiet, but once they had scored it was game over.the ground was an eye opener, smack bang in the middle of a rough estate. I'm hoping for Winchester, and putting faith in Ford's records in the playoffs.

Winchester drew tonight so any result against Taunton gets them at home.

I'm putting faith in Ford's records in the playoffs.BG says MF has been involved in six. Oxford City 2008 and 2012 accounts for four. Does anyone know which other year?

From the Oxford Mail website: Taunton inflicted an embarrassing 7-1 defeat on the Puritans when the two met last month, but Ford has promised there will be no repeat. He said: "We'd had a scouting report on them and I'd prepared the team tactically for that and I got it wrong. The blame lies with the manager for that one, not with the players, but I won't make that mistake again."
I hope he was at Cinderford on Tuesday.

Best of luck tomorrow. I shall be following from Roscoff. The point is important tomorrow. We should be fresher and that could make a difference. Should get 600 tomorrow on the gate.

The first half decided the game and the second half was really a non event,Taunton had plenty of possession but where it mattered they fell short no doubt missing their top scorer who was apparently rested for the play offs. There were grumbles about how we played in the second half but there are two schools of thought, we were either outplayed or controlling the game enough to avoid any possible situations or injuries. We now have the biggest challenges in the clubs recent history to gain promotion. Whatever happens the club has made massive strides and if we don't make it ,I hope supporters remember what has been achieved.

Taunton fans not happy on twitter that puritans radio said that Banbury would be in the final and that is direspectful and they hope winchester win. Apart from that Banbury dominated the first half, taunton had one effort come off the top of the bar, and we sat back in the second half and soaked up all of taunton pressure and we still looked likely to score on the odd break in the second half.
Looking forward to tuesday, another big crowd suporting the mighty reds, winchester are unbeaten in nine but have drawn the last six games.

Taunton fans not happy on twitter that puritans radio said that Banbury would be in the final and that is direspectful and they hope winchester win. Oh dear. I think somebody down there is being a bit precious. The people who run club radio stations are amateur enthusiasts as well as supporters and I doubt that the same standards of impartiality will be expected of them as might be of, say, the BBC (and I don't mean amateur in the derogatory sense). Maybe someone got a bit caught up in the moment and just forgot to use the 'If' word. As for the match, I'm not sure how much can drawn from it. If the clubs do meet again next week, it may well be a very different game.

Home tie, strong support, not unreasonable to get to the final and as Steve T has said probably a heat of the moment comment. TT probably hacked off because they lost and as a result didn't pinch second spot and also realising that they may have to trek up the M5 again if we succeed against Winchester.

Did think that the away support was very poor for a side looking to challenge for 2nd in the league, as we know if it had been Banbury travelling the away support would have been double if not treble that of Taunton
